These Trios are not strictly a set of dances like the composer's previous trios. The movements have metronome markings as the primary source of speed with the titles being presented in paranthesis. The list of movements show this title rather than the metronome marking. These metronome marks should be taken as a rough guides only, as so much depends on the acoustics of the performance place, the mood of the moment, and the taste of the players. The composer notes: "There is much to be said, perhaps, for using the less precise Italian terms of Andante, Allegro etc."
