'Pros and Cons' was written in 1981 as fun pieces for the highly talented Scottish musicians Sheena and Andrew Gordon (respectively: flautist and a founder member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra bassoonist of many years standing). The composer suggests that for less experienced players it is perhaps best remembered that, like most wind duos, the pieces are quite taxing of the players' stamina and breath control. Performing one or two of the pieces only are viable options!
